D.I.V.A.S.

D.I.V.A.S teaches young girls to Dream, be Inspired, Visualize, Achieve, and Succeed. It is a year-round mentoring program designed specifically for disadvantaged girls ranging in age from 6-18. The program is a collaborative partnership between local school districts and several community-based organizations that refer young ladies to the program. The program seeks to achieve the following:

  • Increase Self-Esteem in Young Girls
  • Pair Professional Educated Women Mentors with Youth Participants to Interact Weekly
  • Increase the Number of Young Girls Who Enroll in Trade School or College from Poverty Stricken Families and Communities Through Our Scholarship Program
  • Increase the Participants' Awareness of Various Cultures and the Arts Through Field Trips
  • Decrease the Number Of Young Girls Who Participate In Promiscuous and Illegal Behavior As Well As Drug and Alcohol Use

Mentors

Our mentors complete a four-hour training session on the best practices for mentoring and sign a one-year contract. They undergo a selective screening process and whenever possible, parent/guardian participation is encouraged. Currently, we have 45 young ladies enrolled in our year-round program. The annual cost per child is $1,000 and our primary funding sources are individuals and corporations.
